Surprising delightful
I’ll be honest. I was fully prepared to have been disappointed, buying a scented oil online at what is frankly a fairly high price point. I am very pleasantly surprised to say that I’ll be purchasing additional different scents from this vendor, instead.I chose the holy basil / lavender / bergamot. I like those three things independently, so why not? It really doesn’t smell like any of those, though. I opened the bottle and was immediately hit with a blast of childhood nostalgia. In combination, it smells like sassafras. Not the leaves or the bark but the roots, fresh dug and still wet on the inside. It’s kind of crazy.Beyond that the scent is lovely and we can use scent as an anchor to achieve the mood we train ourselves to associate with it, I’m not sure that it’s got any additional chemical benefit. I didn’t find any supporting documentation that the kind of serotonin in the oil is absorbed by skin contact so I’m not sure I’m sold on that benefit. At the same time, if it doesn’t absorb it doesn’t hurt anything.Back to positives, nothing about it bothers it triggers my allergies, neither contact irritation or sinus irritation. I’m allergic to basically everything, so that’s kind of a big deal. It does rub in fairly well, and doesn’t leave gross oily residue everywhere. The scent lasts a long time, too.And the bottle is cute. Totally petty, but true. It’s a dark blue glass with a rounded top to the lid. It’s soothing, so the pleasant experience starts as soon as I pick it up.

Calming scent. Great for meditation
The scent is nice and calming. The basil and bergamot are definitely more forward than the lavender, but overall it’s subtle enough to not draw attention since it’s not a scent I’d use as a fragrance. I used this before meditation and very much enjoyed it. The bottle is small enough to carry around in a small purse to use throughout the day. I recommend using it on your temples, or dabbing a little in the palms of your hands and breathing into it.

Not sure if it really works since I was too distracted by the scent. I found it irritating. Going back to the Calm oil that has peppermint in it. I enjoyed that scent better and that was relaxing.
