Old School ACE Bandages like your remember as a kid.
So here I am writing a review for an ACE bandage. Seems like a weird thing to review, like it pretty much describes itself, right? Well, if you have stopped at your local retailer any time lately looking for one of these bandages then you know it is not as simple as it used to be. You used to pick the size at that was that. Now you do that, get home and it is some weird a$$ material, or self adhesive, or is good for pretty much one use.I have a bad ankle. I have had one surgery (and wonderfully cortisone shots- man those things rock!) Docs told me things like “joint replacement” and “no more running”, they can only help with the pain. Pft, whateves Doc! I got a life to live with all kinds of awesomeness to come.Enter this awesome little bandage. Yes, I have a giant restrictive uncomfortable brace that I am supposed to wear, but I hate it, like Gollum hates Frodo, “I HATES IT EVIL LITTLE HOBBBITS I DO”. Anyways, I wrap my ankle up with this little bad boy every morning and the compression makes it possible to get through the day, coach my sons soccer, or go on hikes with the fam. You get the idea.It is fairly durable. I have a monthly subscription for two. I use one every two weeks. It holds up fairly well to several washings; however, it does start to lose its umph around the 4th or 5th wash.The price is great! “If” I can find it locally it is always twice the price.If you are looking for an old school ACE bandage for good compression then you found it.

The Best Ace Bandages Have Clips
Newer Ace bandages frequently have Velcro. They tend not to be as tight as needed. Those with clips tend to provide better hold. Although the stretchy material is not my favorite, this particular one was pretty good and acted much like the old Ace bandages that did not stretch and had 2 silver clips.

Because Life Happens, and Sometimes You Need a Wrap
Picked up this ACE 3-inch elastic bandage “just in case” and, sure enough, my family gave it a workout on elbows, knees, and ankles. It’s easy to wrap, the clips actually stay put, and it gives solid support without cutting off circulation.Think of it as the duct tape of first aid — you hope you don’t need it, but when you do, you’re glad it’s there. Bonus: beige goes with everything.

First I got a synthetic ace wrap, then a brace. But this felt the best after I crushed my foot and ankle. Still in crutches after 6 weeks . Getting better though

Flimsy clasp with teeth that can break.
The metal teeth on the clasps are extremely fragile. I broke three of them without realizing it trying to get them to bite into the denser last ~.5 inch of the bandage. Don’t try to put the clasp on this part (just fold it under itself).The clasps are so flimsy they feel like they were made to break. Disappointing. I guess I will use it with a safety pin instead.The bandage itself seems fine. Note that it is very stretchy, so to apply decent tension it has to be stretched quite a bit.
